ABOUT
Janine Bowen has been active in the Fashion/Entertainment business since 1999. She spent her formative years at MAC Cosmetics. During her tenure she had the opportunity to attend mastery classes from local and international artists:
Topolino, Kabuki, Florence Cornet, Joanne Gair, Ve Neil, Tana D’Amico, Gordon Espinet, Jon Hennessey, Gregory Arlt and Billy B
She has developed her own unique style, coupled with her tenacious work ethic; this combination has made her a much sought-after artist. Her philosophy about her craft is, "make-up should be used to celebrate a person's beauty, it should enhance and draw the eye to the whole face".
Janine was a mainstay backstage for Fashion Cares and Maybelline Toronto Fashion Week; she worked the touring D-Squared and Giambattista Valli Fashion Shows and has been using her skills most recently in the booming Toronto film and television industry.
In 1998 she completed her formal training in makeup at George Brown College. With a background in Human Services working as a social worker, Janine feels the skills and training she obtained have been invaluable to her work as an artist.
“People skills are essential in all industries, especially when working closely with the public. For example, I often spend a great deal of time listening to my client’s personal experiences. When you know how to listen actively it makes them feel comfortable, and I can really make a connection with that person".
